Filipino-Canadian voice actor Eric Bauza, whose performances brought beloved Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Tweety Bird to life for a new generation, has died at the age of 46.

His family confirmed his sudden passing in a statement shared on his official Instagram account on Sunday, October 25.

The announcement described Bauza as the Emmy Award-winning voice behind Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and dozens of other popular animated characters. His family said additional details would be shared later.

According to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records, Bauza died from hypertensive cardiovascular disease, a condition associated with high blood pressure and its effects on the heart.

His death marks the loss of one of animation’s most recognizable modern voice performers, whose career spanned more than two decades.

Born on December 7, 1979, in Scarborough, Ontario, Bauza was raised by Filipino immigrant parents who moved to Canada in the late 1960s.

His love for animation began at an early age, particularly through classic Looney Tunes cartoons introduced to him by his father and grandfather.

What started as a childhood fascination eventually became a career that allowed him to voice many of the characters he grew up watching.

Bauza initially worked as a character designer before moving into voice acting. He went on to build an extensive portfolio across television, film, and animated productions.

Beyond Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, his Looney Tunes roles included Porky Pig, Tweety, Marvin the Martian, Elmer Fudd, and Foghorn Leghorn.

He also voiced Puss in Boots in The Adventures of Puss in Boots, Baby Fozzie Bear in Muppet Babies, and characters in Teen Titans Go! and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

His film credits included Space Jam: A New Legacy and Coyote vs. Acme, further establishing his presence in major animation franchises.

Bauza received three Children’s and Family Emmy Awards for his voice performances in Looney Tunes Cartoons, Bugs Bunny Builders, and Teen Titans Go!

His work earned recognition not only for his ability to recreate familiar cartoon voices but also for bringing his own energy and personality to characters with decades of animation history.

Throughout his career, Bauza remained proud of his Filipino heritage. He previously spoke about how growing up in a Filipino household, surrounded by different accents and personalities, helped shape his ability to perform a wide range of character voices.

His achievements also made him a prominent figure in the Filipino-Canadian creative community, showing how an artist raised in Scarborough could build a career voicing some of the world’s most recognizable animated characters.

Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks chairman Channing Dungey paid tribute to Bauza, recognizing his contributions to the animation industry and the joy his performances brought to audiences worldwide.

Bauza was still involved in upcoming animated projects at the time of his death, including Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical and The Dragon Masters.

He leaves behind a body of work that introduced classic cartoon characters to younger audiences while keeping their familiar voices alive for longtime fans.
