MANILA, Philippines — Three Filipinos remain in intensive care following the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, while a fourth Filipino injured in the incident has already been discharged, the Department of Migrant Workers said Monday.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said one of the three Filipinos still confined in the ICU is in critical condition. Another report from the DMW said one patient remained intubated as Philippine officials continued monitoring their recovery.

The four injured Filipinos included two airport workers and two passengers, according to the DMW. The Filipino who was cleared to leave the hospital had suffered trauma burns but was well enough to be discharged.

Cacdac said the Migrant Workers Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Riyadh are assisting the victims and have also reached out to their families.

“We have also reached out to their families to help them, and we are also hand-holding the families through this difficult situation,” Cacdac said.

The Filipinos were among those hurt during the weekend attacks on Riyadh’s main international airport amid an escalation of fighting between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement.

A strike on the airport on Saturday killed 12 people and injured more than 300, according to international reports. The Houthis later claimed responsibility. A separate projectile struck a passenger terminal the following day, killing another person and injuring 11 others.

Saudi-led coalition forces said the Sunday projectile caused a fire at the airport.

The DMW said no Filipino deaths have been reported in connection with the attacks. Philippine labor and welfare officials in Saudi Arabia continue to monitor the three Filipinos who remain hospitalized and provide assistance to their families.
