Eumir Marcial scores third round knockout, remains unbeaten as a pro

Filipino boxer Eumir Marcial returned to the professional ranks with a third round knockout of Mexican American fighter Omar Huerta at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

Marcial absorbed a strong punch from Huerta before responding with a powerful right hook that sent his opponent to the canvas. Huerta failed to beat the count, with the official stoppage coming in the third round.

The victory kept Marcial’s professional record unbeaten at 8-0, while Huerta fell to 15-2-2. The win also marked Marcial’s return to professional boxing after a 10-month layoff.

The Zamboangueño last fought as a professional in October 2025 before competing at the Southeast Asian Games in December, where he won the Philippines’ lone boxing gold medal.

Following the victory, the Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines said Marcial will skip the 2026 Asian Games and instead focus on the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. ABAP president Marcus Manalo said the short recovery period and long travel from the United States to Nagoya were factors in the decision.
