PHILIPPINES – The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) recently announced that starting July 1, Wednesday, sending money to any bank or e-wallet will be permanently waived of any additional fees. They must download the most recent BPI mobile applications for the updates.
More than 9.5 million BPI users are expected to benefit from this change.
It will now be free as long as the user transacts using the the BPI app and VYBE by BPI. This includes permanent zero fees for both InstaPay and PesoNet transfers. They also add that deposits are insured by PDIC up to P1 Million per depositor, and that the waived fees apply to all existing BPI mobile app users and verified Vybe users.
According to a statement from BP president and chief executive producer, Jose Teodoro Limcaoco, this change has been pushed in order to make digital banking more inclusive for more Filipino users and to remove barriers to financial access.
