House justice panel subpoenas NBI chief, VPSD’s lawyer for April 14 hearing

MANILA, Philippines — The House Committee on Justice has issued a separate subpoena ad testificandum et duces tecum to National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Atty. Melvin Matibag and Vice President Sara Duterte’s lawyer Atty. Michael Poa for the slated April 14 clarificatory hearing.

Matibag is directed to testify and submit the records of the NBI investigation into the death threats made by the vice president against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Meanwhile, Poa is ordered to testify before the committee and bring the submissions made by the Department of Education (DepEd) to the Commission on Audit (COA) during his tenure as Chief of Staff of the DepEd Secretary from 2022 to 2023.

The documents were subpoenaed in relation to the department’s use and liquidation of its confidential funds.
