MANILA, Philippines — Telecommunication companies on Tuesday, March 24, convened for a meeting with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), guaranteeing their compliance should the effective blocking of the virtual game Roblox come into effect.
Joined by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), CICC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring child safety online and in alignment with the nation’s laws.
CICC Executive Director Usec. Renato Paraiso said the CICC initially issued a 30-day ultimatum requiring Roblox to formally respond to concerns over alleged illicit activities, including cases involving pedophiles and drug traffickers targeting minor users.
However, the CICC later shortened the window for engagement to 15 days, warning of possible restrictions if the company did not coordinate with the Philippine government.
CICC strongly advised parents and guardians to monitor their wards’ internet activities, thereby keeping them safe from offline and online harms.
