MANILA – Filipinos planning to visit Nepal are advised to postpone their travel until the situation in the country stabilizes.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday told Filipino nationals to heed its advisory even as an interim government is already being formed.

No Filipino was reported adversely affected by the political unrest in Nepal, which was rocked by deadly protests over corruption that ultimately ousted the government.

The DFA said the Philippine government, through the Philippine Embassy in India and its Consulate General in Kathmandu, will continue to monitor the developments.

Filipinos already in Nepal are advised to exercise caution, shelter in their accommodations and avoid going out.

They are also reminded to follow all safety and security instructions of local authorities and observe curfew or restrictions imposed by the host government.

For emergencies, Filipinos may reach out to the Consulate General at Anandanagar Dhumbarahi, Ward No. 4, Kathmandu, Nepal via telephone +977 01 4008801805, 4008801-05, 4008799 or +977 984-9775585 for WhatsApp and Viber.

They may also email the foreign service post and the embassy at kathmandu.pc.ah@dfa.gov.ph, philcongen@voith.com.np and newdelhi.pe@dfa.gov.ph
