Applications now open for up to $2.5 million in grants

Winnipeg, MB – A new grant program is here to support non-profit organizations making a difference in their communities.

The City of Winnipeg’s Community and Neighbourhood Grant Program opened for applications today.

The program provides an accessible single-portal application system for operating budget grants. It streamlines the process for existing grants previously managed individually within City departments.

Funding is available via four streams:

  • Environmental/Green City:
    • Available to organizations that focus on:
      • Climate resiliency
      • Renewable energy
      • Waste diversion
      • Protecting and growing the urban forest
  • Recreation:
    • Available to organizations that promote active living for Winnipeggers of all ages and abilities
  • Community Well-being:
    • Available to organizations that:
      • Promote safety and well-being
      • Provide accessible and affordable services to vulnerable Winnipeggers
  • Arts and Culture:
    • Available to organizations that:
      • Celebrate culture
      • Promote community pride
      • Provide opportunities for civic engagement

Applicants must meet the criteria of at least one stream. They must also align with the goals and objectives of OurWinnipeg and Council’s Strategic Priorities Action Plan.

“By streamlining the grant process into a single portal, we’re making it easier for community organizations to access the funding they need,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “Whether it’s supporting recreation, community safety, or arts and culture, this program reflects our commitment to building a city that is vibrant, inclusive, sustainable, and safe for all Winnipeggers.”

Grants will be open for applications annually through 2027. The program has $2.5 million available to organizations. Eligible projects can receive up to $250,000 per year.

Applications close on September 15, 2025. For more information visit: winnipeg.ca/communityneighbourhoodgrant
