After the devastating incident at the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver, the Filipino community and people from all over BC have been quick to offer support to the victims’ families.

Several fundraising efforts have been started to help with funeral costs, medical bills, and other expenses. Here are some of the key campaigns:

  • Reddit Vancouver & United Way BC’s Kapwa Strong Fund, which partners with United Way BC, to support recovery and counseling: GoFundMe for Kapwa Strong Fund

  • United Way British Columbia – Kapwa Strong Fund: A fund to provide immediate aid and long-term recovery for those impacted by the tragedy: United Way BC Fund

  • Archdiocese of Vancouver – Lapu-Lapu Day Appeal: A special appeal to provide critical support for victims, including a collection at Catholic parishes across Greater Vancouver: Archdiocese of Vancouver Appeal

  • Canadian Red Cross – Vancouver Lapu Lapu Festival Appeal: A campaign to help with immediate needs and long-term recovery for those affected by the tragedy: Canadian Red Cross Appeal

As of May 2, the campaigns have raised over $2 million, showing just how strong the community’s support is.

The outpouring of support from both local and global communities serves as a testament to the strength of unity in times of hardship. By contributing to these campaigns, we can help the victims’ families rebuild their lives and begin their journey toward healing. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference in this difficult time.
