N.W.T. minimum wage bumped up 65 cents, to $16.70 per hour

The minimum wage in the Northwest Territories is now $16.70 — a four per cent increase over the previous minimum wage of .

The change came into effect on Sunday.

Since 2023, the Northwest Territories has adjusted its minimum wage annually each September.

Increases are calculated using a formula based on the consumer price index for Yellowknife (the only N.

W.T. community for which Statistics Canada collects inflation data) and the change in the average hourly wage in the territory over the previous year, according to the territorial government’s website.

Minimum hourly wages in Canada range from per hour in Saskatchewan to per hour in Nunavut.
