PH Covid-19 recoveries hit 2.5M: DOH

MANILA – The country’s coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries has reached 2,508,387 on Saturday after the Department of Health (DOH) logged an additional 22,529 in the count.

This number accounts for 94.5 percent of the Philippines’ total confirmed cases since the pandemic started in March 2020, now pegged at 2,654,450.

In its latest case bulletin, the DOH also said some 11,010 individuals were infected by the SARS-CoV-2, pushing the number of active cases to 106,558 or 4 percent of the overall case count.

Meanwhile, 273 new fatalities were recorded, raising the death toll to 39,505.

The current positivity rate is at 16.3 percent, based on the 56,475 individuals tested on October 7.

Of the active cases, 76.3 percent have mild symptoms, 13.9 percent are asymptomatic, 1.2 percent are critical, 2.9 percent are severe, and 5.64 percent are moderate.

The country is using about 70 percent of the 4,400 intensive care unit beds, including 56 percent of the 20,900 isolation beds and 56 percent of the 15,500 wards beds allocated for Covid-19 patients nationwide.

In Metro Manila, 1,005 or 67 percent of the total 1,500 ICU beds are in use as well as 46 percent of the 4,700 isolation beds and 53 percent of the 4,400 ward beds.
