Vote Pilipinas urges public to register for May 2022 polls
MANILA – The Vote Pilipinas, a non-partisan group partnering with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), urged Filipinos anew to sign up and vote as the deadline of registration for the upcoming May 2022 National and Local Elections (NLE) is nearing to end.
“We hope to still encourage more Filipinos to register as we draw closer to the deadline, and we hope to have your continued support in this endeavor,” it said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Comelec has so far recorded 5.77 million new voters, and a total of 61.06 million registered voters, as of August 2021.
Vote Pilipinas will also be conducting a two-hour voter registration town hall dubbed “#MagparehistroKa Grand Town Hall: Final Countdown” on Sept. 27 at 5 p.m., via Zoom, to encourage more eligible Filipinos to register and participate in next year’s elections.
Vote Pilipinas said relevant information about the 2022 elections will be discussed during the grand town hall meeting.
The public is encouraged to join the online town hall discussion featuring interviews with Comelec officials, corporate partners, the academe, and community representatives.
The voter registration period nationwide will end on Sept. 30.
Since Sept. 11, the Comelec has been holding a national synchronized mall registration to accommodate more voter applicants in the country.
