Ogie Alcasid drops new song for dads before Father’s Day
Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid dedicated his new song to his father and to all dads out there this coming Father’s Day.
On Friday, June 18, Ogie posted a clip of the song, Thank You, Pa, on Instagram as he greeted all the dads a Happy Father’s Day, which will be celebrated on Sunday.
The singer-songwriter said in another Instagram post that the song has been included in a playlist on Spotify.
“What a beautiful Friday morning. Fell asleep early last night and did not know that my song made it to the new music Friday playlist and my dear friends even made the song trend last night. I am so grateful,” he wrote.
Ogie co-produced the song with ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo and was arranged by Bobby Velasco.
The lyric video of Thank You, Pa has now been posted on Star Music’s YouTube channel. The video shows Ogie singing to the song as photos of various fathers, as well Ogie’s photos and videos with his dad, flash on the screen.
The song is an expression of gratitude to the dads who encouraged their children to pursue their dreams and to not be afraid of whatever may come their way. It is also a message of gratefulness to the fathers who are watching over their kids from heaven.
In an ABS-CBN news release, Ogie was quoted as saying that he wrote the song for his dad Herminio Alcasid, Sr. who passed away in 2020.
“Ty [Thank you] to my @starmusicph team. Ty [Thank you] to all my dear friends who have been supporting my music. My dad is smiling from heaven,” he said in his Instagram post.
In an earlier Instagram post, Ogie shared a photo of his younger self with his dad, saying that this Father’s Day, “I choose to honor him and celebrate what he shared with us when he was still here- his heart, his mind, and his love.”
“Hugs to all who miss their Dads, hugs to all who wish their relationships with their dads were better, and to all whose dads are with you- tell them you love them as it will make their hearts feel good,” he continued.
Ogie also has three children: Leila, Sarah, and Nate.
