BuCor disowns solicitation by fake jail execs

MANILA – Officials on Thursday warned the public against fake solicitations by persons claiming to be senior Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) officials.

In a public advisory, the Bucor said: “There are certain individuals impersonating BuCor senior officers, personally calling BuCor partners or suppliers seeking for solicitation for future events.”

Government agencies have repeatedly sounded the alarm after it noted a surge in cybercriminals taking advantage of community quarantines by perpetrating unlawful acts such as phishing and donation scams.

“We would like to inform the public that BuCor has not authorized any individual to conduct such activity especially using the name of the BuCor officials,” the advisory read.

“Moreover, there are no personnel allowed to solicit favors and goods on behalf of BuCor.”
