Over 1K new Covid-19 recoveries bring tally to 579,518
MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported 1,072 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pushing the nation’s total number of recoveries to 579,518.
In its 4 p.m. case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said those who have beaten the illness account for 84.7 percent of the Philippines’ total case tally which has reached 684,311.
The agency also reported 6,666 new confirmed cases and 47 new deaths.
These figures brought the overall tally of active cases to 91,754 and the death toll to 13,039.
The DOH said about 95.3 percent of the active cases are mild, 2.5 percent are asymptomatic, 0.9 percent are severe, 0.46 percent are moderate, and 0.8 percent are in critical condition.
“There were six duplicates removed from the total case count as one of these is a recovered case. Moreover, eight cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.
Based on DOH data on March 23, 15.3 percent of 32,176 who were tested for Covid-19 yielded positive results.
Currently, 53 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds, 43 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, and 41 percent of 6,000 ward beds dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are utilized.
About 34 percent of 2,000 ventilators are also utilized by patients with Covid-19.
The agency, meanwhile, appealed to the public to stay at home and ensure proper ventilation at home to avoid further spread of coronavirus.
