MANILA – A leading semiconductor manufacturing company in Taiwan is hiring close to 800 employees and qualified overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) can apply, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Friday.

Labor Attaché Fidel Macauyag of the Philippine Labor Office in Taichung City said the 779 additional workers are needed by Silicon Precision Industries Co. Ltd. (SPIL) in the said city.

“The vacancies are contained in the Job Orders of SPIL that were submitted to POLO-Taichung mid this week for verification,” he said in a statement.

The POLO-Taichung advised interested applicants to sign up at the following Philippine Recruitment Agencies: Grand Placement & General Services Corp., MIP International Manpower Services, Inc., and JS Contractor Incorporated.

Macauyag is hoping for an early easing of travel protocols and limitation on the number of inbound passengers in Taiwan so that the prospective OFWs awaiting deployment may immediately work in Taiwan.

SPIL is one of the leading providers of comprehensive semiconductor assembly and test services in the world.

The company’s products include advanced leadframe and substrate-based packages, which are widely used in computers, tablets, cellular phones, set-top boxes, and LCD monitors.

The company also manufactures wearable devices, smart appliances, IoT, fingerprint sensors, smart cars, VR/AR, artificial intelligence, drones, smart speakers, digital cameras, and video game consoles, among others.

Meanwhile, Macauyag reported that the POLO-Taichung recently awarded a Plaque of Recognition to SPIL for currently employing more than 3,500 OFWs, with a free placement fee, monthly broker’s service fee, medical and other fees.

He said they are grateful to the company for its continued preference for Filipinos to be part of its workforce.
