Filipino band Ben&Ben delights K-pop fans anew with new covers

Fans of K-pop boy groups Seventeen, The Boyz, GOT7, EXO, and BTS, as well as singer and actress IU, rejoiced on Wednesday, September 2, as Filipino folk-pop band Ben&Ben released a new episode of their weekly online series where they covered songs of these popular artists.

On the latest episode of their BBTV series, Ben&Ben did not only feature more K-pop songs, but also the amazing vocals of the other band members.

Starting off the part two of their K-pop Covers Challenge, Miguel Guico, the band’s vocalist and guitarist, sang Sevententeen’s “Home,” followed by violinist Keifer Cabugao on GOT7’s “Not By The Moon,” percussionist Toni MuƱoz on EXO’s “Baby Don’t Cry,” vocalist and guitarist Paolo Guico on The Boyz’s “Reveal,” percussionist Andrew de Pano on “Eight” by IU featuring Suga of BTS, and lastly, Paolo on BTS’s “Dynamite.”

Sa mga napakinggan namin, I mean lahat sila magaganda, pero ito ‘yung ilan sa mga feeling namin na we will, hopefully, we’ll be able to give justice (Of all the songs that we have listened to, I mean they are all good, but these are among those we feel that we will, hopefully, we’ll be able to give justice),” Paolo said.

Miguel commended his bandmates on a Tweet, tagging Toni, Keifer, and Andrew to say that he’s “immensely proud” of them. Andrew quote retweeted this and said, “Teka ba’t ako kinikilig (Wait, why am I feeling giddy)[?]” Netizens also praised the nine-member band for their performance.

Ben&Ben uploaded their first K-pop song covers on their first BBTV episode in August. They covered boy group NCT Dream’s “Beautiful Time,” rock band Day6’s “You Were Beautiful,” and girl groups Red Velvet’s “Bad Boy” and Twice’s “Feel Special.” This is currently the most-watched BBTV episode with more than 800,000 views.

The series has, so far, five episodes, wherein aside from singing K-pop songs, they also did covers of original Pinoy music sang in different genres, tried acting by re-creating scenes from their favorite Filipino movies, and performed Philippine folk dances for their “Buwan ng Wika” special.

Ben&Ben launched the BBTV series as a thank you gift to their supporters after they reached one million subscribers on YouTube. They surprise their fans with a new episode every Wednesday.
