MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday reported that the Vietnamese-flagged cargo vessel, MV Globe 6, will not spill oil based on the underwater hull inspection by PCG divers.

In an update, the PCG said MV Globe 6, which ran aground in the waters between Nagubat Island and Liwagao Island in Caluya, Antique, “only acquired 80 percent minor scratches from the bulbous bow” to the bottom portion of its engine room at both sides of the hull, according to divers from the BRP Cape Engaño (MRRV-4411).

“Despite the impact of the incident, the ship’s rudder and propeller remained intact and in excellent condition, as well as the vessel’s ballast tank as reported by Captain Nguyen Hoai, skipper of MV Globe 6,” the PCG said.
