MANILA – The Department of Energy (DOE) reported that the satellite power plant of DMCI Power Corp. in Cataingan, Masbate was shut down following the magnitude 6.6 earthquake in the southern Luzon province Tuesday.
In an advisory, DOE said except for DMCI Cataingan Satellite Plant, other power plants in Masbate are still in operation.
“Power interruptions have been reported in Cataingan, Pio V. Corpus, Esperanza, Placer, Uson, Dimasalang, and Palanas, which are under the Masbate Electric Cooperative (Maseco),” DOE said.
DMCI’s Cataingan plant is supplying power to Maseco’s customers.
Based on the initial report from National Power Corp. (NPC) Bicol Operations, the DOE added the Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) facilities were not damaged in Masbate after the earthquake.
NPC’s 69-KV line is also operating normally, the department said.
On the other hand, a toppled C1-C7 construction assembly supplying 3-37.5kVA banked transformer to Cataingan National High School was reported early this day.
“Rest assured that the entire energy family is working together to safely restore power in affected areas,” the DOE said.
