Comelec main office to remain closed for 2 weeks

MANILA – The Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) main office and other offices in Intramuros, Manila will be closed for two weeks for extensive disinfection and decontamination.

In an advisory released on Tuesday, the poll body announced the closure is effective from August 3 to 16.

“All departments and offices in the Main Offices, as well as the Offices of the Regional Election Director of the National Capital Region, Region 4-A (Calabarzon) and Region 4-B (Mimaropa) will be closed to the public from August 3-16, 2020 for extensive disinfection and decontamination,” it said.

The Comelec added that its officers and employees will continue to perform their functions on a work-from-home basis.

It also said the issuance of local and overseas voters’ certificates by Election Records and Statistics Department (ERSD) and Office for Overseas Voting (OFOV) in the main office are temporarily suspended.

The poll body’s main office is located at the Palacio del Gobernador in Intramuros.
