As the country continues to fight the coronavirus diseases 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Education (DepEd) earlier announced that there will be no face-to-face classes until the safety of students and teachers is assured. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) also encouraged all higher education institutions (HEIs)  to employ alternative learning or flexible learning systems like online classes so that learning will continue even during the community quarantine period.

While this is favorable to others, it cannot be denied that there are some students who do not have the means to access internet connection or buy gadgets to participate in online classes.

So in her own way to help these students join virtual learning, Heart Evangelista announced that she will be giving away tablets!

“I heard having a tablet or computer is a requirement for online classes so I will do the best I can,” she tweeted on Thursday, June 4.

“I’m sorry I can’t help everyone but I will try to help as much as I can,” she added.

Heart encouraged the students who need the tablet to send her a direct message on Instagram.

“I cannot accept DMs (direct message) here on Twitter because it will mess up my system of the people I am currently assisting here,” she advised.

Although some might not be aware of it, Heart has been of big help during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with other local celebrities like Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis who have relaunched their “Shop and Share” project to raise funds for the purchase of coronavirus test kits.

Heart earlier shared that a painting of her, titled “Upended 2020,” was sold to Art for Life and that all proceeds will be given to frontliners who have been risking their lives to save others’ lives and battle the deadly virus.

On her Twitter account, it can be seen that she actively responds to netizens’ calls for medical and financial assistance.
