How we see the world is a true reflection of how we feel inside. When we cultivate positive thinking and use our imagination — we end up considering options and alternatives and push ourselves to believe that we can make all things possible what others think is impossible. Positive thinking can help us get through anything.

By adapting a positive attitude, our resilience increases and allows us to explore our surroundings with confidence. It’s been scientifically proven that having a positive mindset improves the quality of our lives: our careers, our personal relationships and our physical and mental health.

Here are some healthy habits that will help foster positivity in our lives:

  1. Lots of exercise, plenty of sleep and having the right diet. Get at least 30 minutes of physical activity in your daily life. Go for a brisk walk. Run. Go for a bike ride. Do some stretching exercises. Swim. Go for a hike. Get at least 7-9 hours of sleep. Do some meditation and breathing exercises before you go to sleep. Take a nice hot bath with lavender scent. Avoid screen time before bedtime. Read a book instead. Eat well. Eat lots of leafy greens. Avoid sugar. Lessen your carbs. Eat more protein.
  2. Don’t sweat the small stuff. We all have challenges in life — we must learn to exhale when confronted with challenges. Take a step back. Look at the bigger picture. There’s always a solution to every challenge. Learn to find hope in a negative situation. Everything is fleeting. It may be a bad day today but tomorrow will be a different day and a better day.
  3. Avoid negative relationships. Get rid of toxic relationships. It might be a tough and difficult step to do — especially if it involves family members — but you must do it. You must keep your sanity intact and take care of your mental wellness. Learn to prioritize yourself. Cut off relationships that subtracts from you. Only surround yourself with positive influencers. Avoid drama and negative people who bad mouth other people. Interacting with positive influencers — emits neurotransmitters, which makes you feel relaxed and happy.
  4. Do what you love. Choose a career that you have a passion for. When your work is something that you love — it distracts you from being stressed, sad or negative. Every moment you spend at work becomes enjoyable and fulfilling.
  5. Turn to Creativity. Write a book. A poem. A blog. Create music. Dabble in oil or watercolour painting. Knit or sew. Dance like there’s no tomorrow. Sing. Act. Creativity and imagination will take you to a higher level and a better understanding of yourself. When you understand yourself better — you are kinder to yourself. When there’s kindness, there’s happiness.
  6. Practice the Law of Attraction. Our thoughts are powerful. Our thoughts determine our desires. We must dream big. We must not censor our dreams or visions with practicalities and probabilities. Always think that you can and therefore you will. Positive thoughts attract positive outcomes. Case in point: I used to have an imperfect past. Slowly, I turned my life around for the better. I got rid of bad habits and nurtured good habits instead — through the power of my thoughts. I wanted change to manifest — until I became the change I wanted to be.
  7. Set goals with timelines. Take a closer look at what you want to achieve. Create smart, realistic and achievable goals. Write your goals down. Set a timeline for each goal. Create an action plan. Take action. Re-evaluate and assess your progress. Do not be too hard on yourself.
  8. See failure as a step to success. Learn to celebrate your successes and your failures. Embrace your failures. Accept your failures. Learn from your failures. Try again. And again.
  9. Start your day with gratitude and a smile. When I wake up each morning — I thank God for the precious gift of life. I’m alive. Yay. I have my loved ones in my life. Double yay! Tell yourself: Today is going to be a great day. Start with smiling at yourself. Getting out of bed on the right side will make your day awesome!
  10. Have a sense of humour. Life is complex enough in itself. We are constantly faced with trivial and significant challenges everyday. It is how we respond to the stresses and tensions that make a difference in our lives. We have the power to make the best out of the worst possible situation by injecting some sense of humour in our lives. Laughter helps us cope with stress and uplifts our moods.
  11. Live in the moment. Never dwell in the past. Do not be anxious about the future. Enjoy the present moment. That is all you have NOW. Enjoy what is happening now and live for today. The only important moment is the present moment.
  12. Accept and embrace yourself. Shush your inner critic. Forgive yourself. Love yourself. Appreciate yourself. Set aside an alone time. Grieve the loss of unrealized dreams. Be good to yourself — if not you, who will?

A positive mindset and attitude can help create our reality. Positivity is the most beneficial human trait. It allows us to develop our ideas, to improve our current situation and to eventually help us HOPE for better outcomes in our lives. There should be no room for doubts. Always remember: the best is yet to be!
