PH condoles with Canada after Nova Scotia mass shooting

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday condoled with the bereaved families of those who were killed in a mass shooting in Nova Scotia, Canada that happened between April 18 and April 19 (local time).

“The Department of Foreign Affairs is deeply saddened to hear of the shooting that took place this weekend in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada,” the agency said in a statement.

“The Filipino people extend their heartfelt condolences to the families and communities suffering from this incident, and join all Canadians in mourning the loss of innocent lives,” it added.

The incident, dubbed as the “worst shooting in Canadian history”, took place in a number of sites as the killer reportedly drove several kilometers setting fires and shooting his “neighbors and strangers”.

The gunman, identified as Gabriel Wortman, disguised as a police officer in uniform and killed 22 people.

According to local news, he evaded local authorities for more than 12 hours before he was shot dead outside a gas station in Enfield, Nova Scotia.
