Curata was a liberal arts graduate of the University of San Francisco and Academy of Art College, prior to establishing his own name in the fashion industry. In an article published by Preview.ph in January 2010, the designer shared that his love for fashion began during his childhood days when he saw the gowns made by his mother’s dressmaker being brought to their home.
As a veteran who spent more than 30 years of his life designing and creating clothes, Curata had worked with high-profile personalities, ranging from international stars like Sharon Stone and local celebrities like Bea Alonzo, to the former highest government official in the Philippine soil, former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Curata is survived by his son, Taj, and his partner Robert “Bob” Miller who, according to Lifestyle Asia magazine, was also being treated for pneumonia.
