MANILA – At least two top officials of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) are under self-quarantine after being exposed to a person found positive with the Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a statement on Monday, MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago said she and MMDA General Manager Jose Arturo “Jojo” Garcia are under self-quarantine after a meeting with someone in the previous week who was later found to have the disease.

“I am one of those who need to self-quarantine since I attended a meeting where another attendee (who) later tested positive for Covid-19. The GM himself was at the same meeting and is also doing self-quarantine,” Pialago said.

She appealed to those who she had personal contact with the positive person to practice the same precaution and called for increased vigilance, proper hygiene and health measures against the pandemic.

Both she and Garcia will not be tested for the virus as they have not shown any symptoms.

Hindi pa po magpapa-test. Priority po muna yung may mga symptoms (We won’t be tested yet. Priority will be given to those showing symptoms),” Pialago said.

She added that she could not specify any details of the meeting she had with the Covid19-positive person for the privacy of the infected individual.

“We leave it up to the positive patient na mag disclose po ng mga meetings na na-attendan niya po (to disclose the meetings he or she has attended),” Pialago said.
