IMUS CITY, Cavite — An official of the Department of Tourism (DOT) urged Cavite’s travel and trade industry to keep abreast with current tourism market trends.

During the opening of the three-day Cavite Travel and Tours Expo (CTTE) at Isla Events here on Friday, DOT Region IV-A (Calabarzon) Director officer-in-charge Marites Castro told tourism stakeholders to upgrade on new technology and use social media in their promotions.

She also committed to support product development, including improvement and enhancement of manpower through training, and creating affordable tour packages to entice more visitors.

She also highlighted the need to create a “culture of tourism that is both sustainable and responsible” to attain inclusive growth.

The event, which ran from May 3 to 5, aimed to highlight the province’s leisure possibilities as offered by the local properties and travel sectors.

CTTE Program Director Jonalyn Agrazada said that aside from boosting the local tourism industry, the event also invited exhibitors from popular destinations from other parts of the country offering travel and tour packages.
