MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Tuesday announced the arrest of a woman who duped the parents of a college student claiming that she could change failing marks and eventually ensure the student can graduate in exchange for money.

Charity R. Angeles, 60, of San Andres, Manila claimed to be an employee of the De La Salle University (DLSU)-Manila and swindled the parent of the student of PHP365,000 over a two-year period.

Angeles assured that she could swing “fail” marks into a passing grade and the student would graduate by October 2018.

From September 2016, Angeles received money for tuition fees and expenses such as Christmas gifts for professors, among others.

When the student did not graduate last October, Angeles revised her promises claiming that the student would be included in the graduating batch last February 16, in exchange for PHP15,000.

When the student was not included anew in the February 16 graduation rites, Angeles claimed that he would be included in a special graduation on February 26 in exchange for PHP62,000.
