STA. ROSA CITY, Laguna – The top official of the Police Regional Office (PRO4A) Calabarzon has appealed to the public not to bully police officers who are just performing their duties to protect and serve the people, as bullying itself is a criminal act.

“Alam niyo kasi dito sa (For you information here in Region) 4a, I am very vocal. Isa lang hinihingi ko, walang bully (I have only asked one thing – there’s no bully). Anybody who will bully my PO1, ang kalaban nila ay sa korte (their match is bringing them to court). That is why, in my five months of service here, nobody is bullying me because I have a sacred mission with the PNP,” Police Chief Supt. Edward Carranza, regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO4A) Calabarzon issued the stern warning during a press conference Thursday.

Carranza has spearheaded the PRO Calabarzon, in partnership with Laguna 1st. District Rep. Arlene Arcillas, in hosting this year’s 4th National Advisory Council Summit themed “Strengthening Partnership for Genuine Transformation” that began Nov. 14 and will end on Nov. 17 at the Monochrome Events Place in Nuvali green district in this city.

“In the event that anybody will bully me, we will not allow such thing to happen,” Carranza vowed.

He also assured that the security of the hundreds of delegates attending the four-day summit had been arranged, citing “we follow the template given by the former director for operations based on the major event security framework used during the ASEAN and APEC conferences.”

He said the presence of several police deployed around the area is “because we do not take for granted the security of the delegates as the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) chairperson has sought to portray the Calabarzon Region (4A) as “a peaceful place, good place to invest your money and a place to live.”

He also shared that the Calabarzon is the only region in the country that has implemented the police-local government joint project on the Community Mobilization Project.

He lauded the project, especially in addressing those hooked into drugs, where cluster leaders will be the ones to send the drug dependents to undergo further rehabilitation.

“This could be replicated throughout the country. This is similar to the Alsa Masa of Davao, that can address really the spread of terrorism, to finally end illegal drugs and embolden the public,” he added.

He said the household clustering launched in this city has encouraged support, cooperation and sharing among village folks to address issues and problems in their localities while they receive support from the Regional Advisory Council.

Police Deputy Director General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, chief of the PNP Directorial Staff and chairm of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the PNP PATROL Plan 2030, who graced the press conference, hailed the CMP.

“The clustering is very, very good as we focus our initiatives. We will take note of that and we hope to be able to discuss it here in this national summit so that people can pass it down to other stakeholders,” Cascolan said.
