Twenty-four-year-old Eva Psychee Patalinjug from Cebu is soon returning to the Philippines from Myanmar as she failed to make it to through the first cut of Miss Grand International 2018. The event happened at Rangoon last Thursday, October 25.

Before the start of the coronation, Eva took to Instagram and shared a photo captioned, “Philippines, this is it! I have done my best and will continue to do so until the end. I’ll leave the rest up to Him.” She adds, “I’m very happy that I get to live one of my life’s greatest goal. Today, I am ready to accept my fate. Never ending appreciation for all the love and prayers,” finishing her statement in Filipino, “Laban mahal kong Pilipinas” (which translates to, ‘Let’s fight, the Philippines, my love.’)

Two days ago, Eva posted a video of herself stumbling onstage during the pageant’s long gown preliminaries. She said, “ Tonight, my heart is filled with joy knowing that my entire country stood up with me when I fell at the Miss Grand International stage. I hope that I have shown courage, strength and the essence of rising from every stumble in life.”

In the end, the top title was won by Clara Sosa of Paraguay who was crowned by her predecessor, Peru’s Maria Jose Lora, who made it viral after videos circulated of the beauty queen fainting and collapsing on stage after the announcement. India’s Meenakshi Kumar received the first finalist spot, Indonesia’s Nadia Purwoko the won second finalist, while Puerto Rico’s Nicole Colon and Japan’s Haruka Oda got third and fourth finalists respectively. Unfortunately, the Philippines has never won the Miss Grand International title, only coming close last year when Elizabeth Clenci finished second runner-up.
