‘I’m Drunk I Love You’ confirmed to have upcoming sequel
Filipino romantic-comedy independent film “I’m Drunk, I Love You” (IDILY) has just confirmed that sequel “I Love You, I Do” is in the works.
Director JP Habac posted a screenshot of the official script on his Twitter, which is written by Kristin Barrameda, captioned in Filipino, “Good morning, kids.” He added an engagement ring emoji to his tweet to accompany the screenplay’s title, “I Love You, I Do.”
Fans responded all in hopes that producers retain the same cast, @runthelmarun retweeting Director JP Habac’s tweet, adding, “OMG! Please tell me it’s the same cast and please direk, make IDILY available for pay per view already!” @RRC_bully and @ilovequeenmaja agreed, both tweeting, “Direk! Bring back the original cast please!”
The original film, released in 2017, stars Maja Salvador and Paulo Avelino as Carson and Dio, who are young adults anticipating graduation. Carson plans to profess her love to her best friend Dio before their graduation ceremony, during an unplanned trip to La Union. Unfortunately, Pathy (with an H), Dio’s ex-girlfriend, portrayed by Jasmine Curtis-Smith, has already caught his attention.
The movie’s soundtrack which was also a hit was inspired by musical films Once and Begin Again, including Original Pinoy Music (OPM) tracks like Parokya ni Edgar’s “Maniwala Ka Sana” and Jimmy Bondoc’s “Hanggang Dito Na Lang.”
Not much is hinted about the sequel, except that there probably is a wedding in the movie as signified by the “I do” vow and the ring emoji.
