Former GMA 7 news anchor Steve Dailisan receives pilot’s license
GMA 7 journalist and news producer Steve Dailisan announced the reception of his pilot’s license months after he resigned from the major network last February.
In a Facebook post shared on October 8, Steve provided a number of photos in his uniform and standing by an airplane, the most notable picturing him on his knees, seemingly praying, while holding the nose of the vehicle.
He shared the story of how he always aspired to fly an airplane, but his family did not have the funds to send him to a school that was “for the rich” and “for the brave,” Steve stating he only had the latter.
“The training cost in aviation remains astronomical in value. My family already struggled sending me to college how much more in a flight school?” he said in the post, which encouraged him to work double time while to pay for his tuition at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), where he maintained exceptional grades.
He then provided a list of thank yous to those who helped launch his broadcast journalism career, which was his career for more than twelve years. His biggest motivation in pursuing this line of work was to save enough money to eventually achieve his initial dream of being a pilot. After his success, he shared, “I just closed my eyes and took the biggest leap of faith. I left everything behind and used my savings for this crazy love of flying.”
Steve ended the long post saying, “This is just the beginning. It excites me even more to know that there’s much to learn. Who knows one day, while flying I can continue telling stories of people who have big dreams, too,” adding a quote that said, “It’s never too late to follow your dream, reach the sky and be with your stars.”
