SMB drops 143 to keep Columbian winless

MANILA — San Miguel sizzled offensively all game long and trounced Columbian, 143-119, to move up to 2-1 in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Friday night.

Despite giving up 40 Dyip points in the second quarter that actually gave them the lead at halftime, the Beermen answered with a 43-18 third quarter to break away for good, as they maintained a solid field goal shooting that saw them already making 107 points after three.

Arwind Santos turned back time to lead SMB, which finished with a 51 percent clip from the field and assisting in 40 of 55 made shots, with 29 points, five rebounds, and four blocks.

Marcio Lassiter added 28 points, two rebounds, seven assists, and one steal, while fellow Gilas member Chris Standhardinger chipped in 21 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal.

AZ Reid put up a triple-double of 17 rebounds, 16 points, and 11 assists with six steals.

Jack Corpuz dropped 28 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals for Columbian, which fell to 0-6.
