Duterte to mediate his party’s disunion

Published

on

President Rodrigo Duterte will try his best to fix the faction tiff ongoing inside the country’s ruling party, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan  (PDP-Laban).

In a radio interview on Saturday, Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Bong  Go said Duterte will hold a caucus to fix the disunion of PDP-Laban when he told him about the national assembly of last Friday where a certain faction was electing “new leaders,”  replacing Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III and former speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

Clueless about having faction inside the party, Go said: “I did not know about these factions. I told him, you’re chairman of both factions.

I’m also auditor of both factions. So he said, he will just call for a caucus and will try to unite them.

Go also said that upon reaching out to Rogelio Galicia, the “newly elected” PDP-Laban President and Pimentel, both were willing to have their groups unified by the Chief Executive.

The PDP-Laban brought Duterte to the seat of the presidency, it would be a waste to not try to fix this, he added.
