PNP to work with PDEA in verifying new names in narco list

MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday it will fully support the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority (PDEA) in dealing with the personalities named by the latter in its updated drug list.

Speaking to reporters, PNP spokesperson Senior Supt. Benigno Durana Jr. said the list will be validated by the government’s intelligence agencies to filter more reliable information from it.

Yang narco list na yan ay nanggaling sa PDEA (That narco list came from PDEA) and definitely, we will be working with the PDEA for whatever law enforcement operations that they are going to conduct against those who are in that list,” Durana said.

Ang pagva-validate nyan, as far as I know, ay lahat ng mga (intel) apparatus ng ating gobyerno, ang tawag nila doon, (As far as I know, validation is done by the government’s intelligence apparatus, called the) intelligence committee. And they regularly sit down and share their information. It’s not a perfect system but the desire is that we will have a more updated list based on the (information) that we receive,” he explained.

On Tuesday, PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino bared that several elected officials, police and military officials, and PDEA personnel are in the new narco list.
