Filmmaker Antoinette “Tonet” Jadaone finally spoke up on her alleged strained relationship with reel to real life couple James Reid and Nadine Lustre, also known as JaDine.

Her statement came after her fellow director, Cathy Garcia Molina, drew unwanted attention from the public when she talked about the work ethic of the couple in a Twitter post.

The speculations about JaDine started on March 21 when a fan said she wishes to see James and Nadine star in a film directed by Cathy before she retires.

“Sana po direk sa huling movie mo, sana Jadine ang kunin nyo, magaling po at napaka-professional. Natapos mo na ang KN (KathNiel), LQ (LizQuen), sana JD (JaDine) naman (I hope you choose JaDine to star in your movie, they are good actors and very professional. You are done with KN, LQ, I wish next time it’s JD) the fan said, addressing Cathy.

The director, responding to this request, answered, “Iha, talaga ba? Iba kasi ang naririnig ko galing mismo kay direk Dan (Villegas) at direk Tonet (Is it true? Because it is different from what I heard from directors Dan and Tonet). Sorry.”

When asked what she specifically heard from her colleagues about James and Nadine, Cathy said that Antoinette has been “vocal” about it in social media.

Antoinette, who helmed the couple’s latest movie “Never Not Love You,” clarified that there were no misunderstandings between her and the two celebrities, adding that they were able to talk before the issue came to light.

“Ang ginawa ko nung lumabas ‘yun, kinausap ko agad si Nadine. ‘Yun ang first instinct ko. Actually, nasa soap nga ako noon, nagdi-direct ako noon. Hindi ako makapag-direct. Hala kailangan ko makausap si bakla. So tinext ko siya, ‘Te, may ginagawa ka ba? Tawagan kita.’ Sabi niya, ‘Ay direk, nasa shoot ako.’ Minessage ko siya after (What I did when the issue got blown out, I talked to Nadine. That’s my first instinct. Actually, I was directing a soap opera but then I cannot properly direct. I told myself I need to talk to Nadine that’s why I texted her, I said ‘Are you doing something? I’m going to call you.’ She replied ‘I am currently filming.’ I sent her a text message after),” the filmmaker said in an interview on Wednesday.

“Dapat kasi ganun. Kasi kapag mauunahan ka ng sinasabi ng iba, baka may tendency na yun ang papakinggan mo (It should be like that. Because when you got influenced by others, there’s a tendency you will only listen to it),” she advised.

Cathy earlier apologized for doing such act, saying that she meant to do no harm to anyone and that she has no ill intentions.

Antoinette stressed that what matters now is both sides are on good terms despite what happened.

Talking about her working relationship with JaDine, the director said she is happy with their performances on their new film.

“Nung dubbing na kami at nagbabatuhan na kami ng ideas, nung pinpanood ko ‘yung edit, mine-message ko sila na natuwa ako na ang galing nila sa movie (During our dubbing period where we also shared our ideas, I watched the edited videos. As I review it, I messaged them saying I’m very pleased with their performances in the movie),” she said.

This is the third time Antoinette and the couple have worked together on a project, following their previous television shows “On the Wings of Love” and “’Till I Met You.
