PNP to give SC drug war records but “not all”
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is willing to give the Supreme Court (SC) the documents it is requesting regarding the deaths of alleged drug offenders under the Duterte administration’s anti-narcotics campaign but just “not everything.
”
PNP chief Ronald Dela Rosa reasoned that releasing a full list can put the lives of cops and civilians at stake.
“We can’t divulge everything because we have projects that involved not just policemen but civilians as well,” he was quoted as saying in an Inquirer report.
Dela Rosa’s take on this is informants who gave them information leading to the arrest of the drug syndicates will be pitiful once these drug syndicates learn about it.
The Supreme Court earlier ordered the government to bare all records and other relevant documents on the government’s drug war but this was responded by Solicitor General Jose C.
Calida with a petition contradicting such request because of the threat it can pose to the country’s security.
The petition, however, was rejected on Tuesday and the Supreme Court maintained its order, now asking that documents be submitted within 15 days from notice.
