Known for making people laugh in various gags and performances, it was Michael V’s turn to laugh when the media called him an icon.

Be it an actor, a rapper, a comedian, a parodist, an entertainer, a director, a composer, an artist, or a voice artist – Michael V sure has entered different aspects of art in the showbiz industry, and yet the 48-year-old GMA artist still thinks he is not yet at that level.

Speaking to reporters at the recent press conference of GMA’s Lips Sync Battle Philippines, Michael V, also known as Bitoy, said that he has only “scratched the surface” of what it takes to be an icon.

Hindi pa, ang layo pa, ang dami ko pang gagawin (Not yet, I am still far from it, I still have to accomplish a lot). Well, salamat (thank you) if you’re saying that, thank you,” he humbly told the press.

Bitoy enumerated different icons in the industry in comparisons like late King of Comedy Dolphy, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, iconic trio Tito [Sotto], Vic [Sotto], and Joey [De Leon], and maintained that he was not yet at par with them.

Hindi pa natin nararating ‘yung narating ng mga totoong icons (I have not yet reached what the real icons have reached),” he added.

Although Michael V. has touched different forms of entertainment in his career, he thinks he still has to do more, that perhaps other icons have not yet done before in order to assume such title.

Hindi ko pa alam kung ano pa ‘yun (I still do not know what that is) specifically,” he explained but added that right now he is venturing into vlogging – which he claims as something previous icons have not done because there was no internet yet in the previous eras.

Michael V uploaded his first vlog four months ago. As of writing, his channel has 191 thousand subscribers.
