Thai PM arrives in Clark

CLARK, Pampanga — Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Sunday arrived in the Philippines to join other regional leaders and dialogue partners in the 31st ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.

The Thai leader and his spouse Naraporn arrived at the Clark International Airport at around 2:18 p.m.

He is the seventh ASEAN head of state who landed at the Clark International Airport. Others ASEAN leaders who arrived earlier were Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi. Laotian Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

He was welcomed by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and some local officials led by Governor Lilia Pineda, Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, and officials from Clark International Airport, among others.

Together with other ASEAN heads of state, Prayut will attend the Special Gala Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN and East Asia Summit (EAS) Leaders’ Retreat, both to be held at the SMX Convention Center in Manila.

He will also join to the ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) and the 5th ASEAN-US Summit to commemorate the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-US Dialogue Relations at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila.

Prayut, together with other ASEAN leaders will also have meetings with external partners such as Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea, the European Council and the United Nations (UN).

He wil also attend the 20th ASEAN Plus Commemorative Summit and the 12th East Asia Summit.
