MANILA — A new weather disturbance (international name Saola) is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Wednesday or Thursday morning, state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The storm will be named “Quedan” once it enters PAR, PAGASA weather forecaster Chris Perez said.

“Saola” was last observed at 1,405 kilometers east of southern Luzon with maximum winds and gustiness of 80/90 kph and forecast to move northwest at 25 kph.

Eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to “Saola”.

Meanwhile, an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) also continues to affect the province of Palawan, parts of Visayas and the entire Mindanao island. It will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in these areas.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with isolated light rains from northeasterly windflow, especially in the afternoon or evening.

Palawan and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to ITCZ and possible strong winds, lightning and light to moderate with occasional heavy rains which may cause flooding/landslides.

The rest of Visayas will experience cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers. Winds will be moderate to strong from the northwest and moderate to rough coastal waters. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
