MANILA — Immigration and police operatives arrested a suspected American pedophile at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2.

According to Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Jaime Morente, Robin Hoyt Alderman, 58, was apprehended last October 19 by members of the bureau’s border control and intelligence unit (BCIU).

He had just arrived aboard a Philippine Airlines flight from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam when he was intercepted at the immigration arrival area of the NAIA 2.

The BI chief noted that they were informed by the US embassy about the foreigner’s trip to Manila and his intention to meet with his minor victims whom he had contacted via the Internet while abroad.

“His conversations with the would-be victims allegedly suggested that Alderman was going to meet them when he comes here and have sexual intercourse with them,” Morente said in a statement.

BI port operations chief Marc Red Mariñas reported that the action is a joint operation with the Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) of the Philippine National Police (PNP), which took Alderman into custody and brought him to Camp Crame where he is undergoing investigation.

The WCPC handles cases on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) and Trafficking in Persons (TIP).

BI acting spokesman Grifton Medina explained that aside from being criminally charged in court, the foreigner will be subjected to deportation proceedings for being an undesirable alien.

He clarified that the American will only be deported if the charges against him are dropped or if he has already served his sentence after conviction.
