Bea Alonzo rejoins Derek, Paulo for upcoming film
An upcoming film of Star Cinema entitled “Kasal” will be starred by actress Bea Alonzo as she will be working again with her former leading men Derek Ramsay and Paulo Avelino.
Alonzo and Ramsay both starred in the 2010 Philippine suspense drama “Magkaribal” (Rivals) that mainly tackles love, fashion and family. The series revolves around the story of two women in the fashion industry who discover that they are sisters.
Avelino and Alonzo, on the other hand, worked together in the 2014 hit Philippine television series “Sana Bukas pa ang Kahapon.” The story is about two women, who will be united by fate and their hunger to seek truth and justice.
Alonzo played the role of Rose Buenavusta-Salvador and Atty. Emmanuelle Gaspar-Romeo. Rose is a kindhearted and intelligent heiress of a chocolate company, while Emmanuelle is a feisty and confident lawyer.
A story conference for “Kasal” was held earlier today, October 23, at ABS-CBN with film director and Wildflower business unit head Ruel S. Bayani, Star Creatives COO Malou Santos, Derek Ramsay, Paulo Avelino, and Bea Alonzo.
This movie will mark Bayani’s return to directing after five years. The last film he directed was the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival entry One More Try which starred Angel Locsin, Angelica Panganiban, Dingdong Dantes, and Zanjoe Marudo.
In an Instagram post of Star Cinema, Bayani said during the story conference that the film is very complicated and that it’s going to be a story about three adult complex characters.
“One who wants to stop it, one wants to proceed, and one woman who has to choose which wedding to go to and what decision to make,” Bayani said.
He further added that they waited a whole year to match the three lead actors’ schedule. He said fans and movie goers have every reason to be excited.
Ramsay, for his part, expressed his gratitude in his Instagram post for another blessing.
Earlier this month, Alonzo has already dropped a clue that she will be doing a movie with her former leading men.
“I will be doing a movie with Paulo (Avelino) and Derek (Ramsay).
I think end of the year pa ‘yun or early next year. Under Star Cinema pa rin. It will be directed by Ruel Bayani,” the actress said in an interview with ABS-CBN.
Alonzo’s last movie project with Star Cinema was the 2016 romantic flick How To Be Yours, while Ramsay’s last film was the 2015 romantic-comedy All You Need Is Pag-ibig (All You Need is Love).
