Bohol set to host 3rd ASEAN meeting

TAGBILARAN CITY – Bohol, primed as a top destination for conferences, is now preparing to host another Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting later this month.

The event, which is the third ASEAN gathering to be held in Bohol this year, will be a conclave of a technical working group on ASEAN taxation initiatives.

In a text message over the weekend, acting Bohol provincial administrator Mitchel John Boiser confirmed this development, noting that that the meeting will be held from October 23 to 25 in Panglao island, where the two previous ASEAN conventions were also staged.

This early, security forces will again be called upon to arrange the security plans for the event.

In the previous meetings, no less than 3,000 personnel were deployed to secure delegates while the conferences were going on.

This year, Panglao has hosted two ASEAN meetings and the 34-nation Asia Cooperation Dialogue spearheaded by the Energy Department.

No-fly and no-sail zones are again expected to be implemented near the meeting venue.
