MANILA — More than 2,000 residents of Metro Manila are expected to benefit from the Special Skills Training Program for Marginalized Workers, a program that the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has organized in partnership with Metro Manila Mayors’ Spouses Foundation, Inc. (MMMSFI).

“We target to start this program by November,” TESDA told the Philippine News Agency.

Through this program, the marginalized sector and those who don’t have permanent jobs will be provided with free skills training as well as starter tool kits.

TESDA signed a memorandum of understanding with the MMMSFI on Tuesday that will provide 2,244 scholarship slots for the marginalized sector, especially the urban poor and the disadvantaged women.

The MMMSFI as a group dedicated to protecting the lives of Metro Manila residents, particularly women and children.

The free skills training aims to provide the beneficiaries with enough skills which they could use when they are already employed.

Beneficiaries can learn hair coloring/bleaching services; hair cut services; facial treatment; perform foot spaI; facial make-up; and manicure and pedicure.

TESDA Director General Guiling Mamondiong said the agency will also provide a mobile training and institution-based training. (PNA)
