P118K ‘shabu’ seized in Talisay, Cebu
CEBU CITY — Around PHP118,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” was seized in a buy-bust operation by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Barangay Lawaan 1, Talisay City, Cebu on Sunday.
The Cebu Provincial Police Office reported on Monday that the illegal drugs were recovered from 34-year-old Dendo Cabañero, who yielded three medium-sized plastic packs and eight triangular sachets of suspected “shabu” weighing more or less 10 grams with a street value of PHP118,000.
According to the reports, the Talisay Police has been receiving information from concerned citizens and barangay officials about the rampant selling of illegal drugs in Lawaan 1 and in Barangay Tangke by a certain “Jack-Jack,” who was later identified as Cabañero.
Further investigation by the Talisay PNP confirmed Cabañero’s illegal drug activities prompting a buy-bust after a confidential informant reported that Cabanero was openly selling “shabu” at his house in Lawaan on Sunday.
The raiding team was composed of SPO1 Oliver Ortega, PO1 Euwen Pitogo, PO1 Genesis Cabatas, and PO3 Adriano Bacatan, who posed as the buyer in the operation conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – 7.
The drugs recovered from Cabañero were submitted to the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 7 for examination, while the suspect is temporarily detained at the Talisay City Police Station pending the filing of charges against him in court.
