DUMAGUETE CITY, Aug. 10— An insurance company with branches nationwide has finally reached the shores of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, offering a variety of services for people who they believe should get protection for their assets in a booming city

Oriental Assurance Corporation formally launched their branch in Dumaguete City Thursday afternoon at a local hotel here.

Kent Cotoco, Executive Vice President and Director of Oriental Assurance Corporation, in an interview disclosed that the company has finally decided to penetrate the Dumaguete market because of its rising economy.

People in Dumaguete need to protect their assets and that is why they are here to offer a variety of services, Cotoco said.

Dumaguete City is among the top five best retirement places in the world as announced by Forbes magazine this year.

Oriental Assurance Corporation is a non-life insurance company that carries all types of insurance to include fire, motor, personal accident, liability, and construction, among others, he added.

Basically, all insurance companies are the same but the service differs, and it matters to the clientele, he pointed out.

Oriental Assurance Corporation operates 16 branches across the country, to include those in Bacolod City in Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Cebu, Leyte, Tacloban and Ormoc City.

Cotoco, meanwhile, expressed the need to educate people more on the importance of insurance.

He said Oriental Assurance has different packages to offer that are affordable to the people in Dumaguete and neighboring places.
