Pres. Duterte leads turnover of financial assistance to families of slain troops in Marawi

MANILA, July 26— President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Tuesday, July 25, expressed gratitude for the assistance of the private sector to the families of the fallen government troops in the conflict in Marawi.

The Chief Executive witnessed the turnover of financial assistance from Go Negosyo Kapatid Family Fund and Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. during a ceremony at the Heroes Hall of Malacañan Palace.

“To the Go Negosyo Kapatid Family Care Fund under the Go Negosyo Kapatid for Marawi Program, your tireless efforts show that nothing is impossible as long as we work together,” the President said.

“I hope that we can continue this harmonious partnership to bring back prosperity, not only for Marawi but for the rest of the country,” he added.

President Duterte also acknowledged the participation of private sectors for the rehabilitation of the besieged Marawi City.

“I would like to commend our partners from the private sector for their participation in the rehabilitation of the city of Marawi,” he said, adding that the humanitarian activities are continuous sources of hope for the thousands of displaced families in the region.

During his speech, the President extended his condolences to the families of Filipino soldiers and policemen killed in action while fighting for the liberation of the Islamic City.

“I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to the families of our troops who perished fighting for the liberation of Marawi,” the President said.

“I know that no amount could equal the precious lives of your loved ones. May you find solace in the fact that the whole nation condoles with you in these trying times,” he said.

The Chief Executive also expressed grief over the loss of his troops who died in the line of duty.

“The Philippines will forever be grateful for their heroism,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Duterte assured policemen and soldiers that the government is behind them as they continue the noble fight against terrorists.

“Together we will work assiduously to bequeath a peaceful and prosperous Philippines for the generations to come,” he said. (PND/PNA)
