Yulo bags four golds in gymnastics, highlights Big City’s domination

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA—Karl Jahrel Eldrew Yulo harvested four golds to highlight National Capital Region (NCR) domination in gymnastics midway into the second day of action in the Palarong Pambansa being held at the Binirayan Sports Complex here.

The NCR’s ace gymnast Yulo’s four golds harvest came in the Cluster 1 men’s artistic gymnastics ( floor exercise, pommel horse or mushroom, vault and individual all-around). In the floor exercise, Yulo beat Railey Argel Raot-raot of Caraga Region and Joshua Catao of Zamboanga Peninsula, who took the silver and bronze, respectively.

Other winners were Christian Liwa of SOCCSKSARGEN who bagged the silver in both the pommel horse and vault while Alexander Moronio of Western Visayas got the bronze in the vault event and individual all-around.

Jan Aeron Calulang of Central Luzon bagged the silver in the individual while Wynn Ysher De la Pena of MIMAROPA captured the bronze in the vault event.

The Big City also emerged as the individual all-around champion in the secondary rhythmic gymnastics. Other NCR gold medalists Joseph Reynado and Jhon Romeo Santillan stamped their class to bag the gold in Cluster 2 of the individual all-around event of elementary and secondary,respectively.

Jeamual Ogama of CALABARZON and Marvin De los Reyes of Bicol Region brought home the silver and bronze individual all-around event (elementary) while John Ivan Cruz (NCR) and Ron Vincent Pama of SOCCSKSARGEN for the secondary boys artistic.

NCR’s dominating performances was also marked in the elementary and secondary rhythmic teams gold haul beating Negros Island and CARAGA which settled for the silver and bronze, respectively.

SOCCSKSARGEN and host Western Visayas came second and third, respectively men’s artistic team championship.

Big City also won the women’s artistic team category in both the secondary and elementary,respectively.
