MANILA–Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Tuesday welcomed the appointment of lawyer Rudolf Philip Jurado as the new head of the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC) which is under the DOJ.

”We welcome to the DoJ Family the newly appointed head of the OGCC, Atty. Rodulf Philip B. Jurado. We hope that he will lead the OGCC towards attaining our reform oriented targets as one Department under the Duterte Administration. We are looking forward to working with him,” Aguirre said in a statement.

The OGCC serves as the legal counsel of all “government-owned-and-controlled corporations, their subsidiaries, other corporate offsprings.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed the appointment papers of Jurado last April 18 and the DOJ released Jurado’s appointment letter to the media on Monday.

He replaces Ireneo Galicia who headed the office during the term of former President Benigno Aquino III.

Jurado is one of the lawyers for Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) on the Petition for Certiorari filed before the Court of Appeals questioning the legality and constitutionality of the conversion of Army Navy Club into a boutique hotel and casino gaming facilities (PAGCOR).

He also worked as legal counsel of some showbiz personalities such as Robin and Rommel Padilla, former Paranaque City mayor Joey Marquez, Anne Curtis, Ana Capri, and Dawn Zulueta and her husband former Davao del Norte Representative Anton Lagdameo.
