1,539 drug suspects surrender under PNP’s ‘Double Barrel Reloaded’
MANILA–A total of 1,539 suspects have voluntarily surrendered during the first 10 days of the newly-revitalized anti-drug campaign of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
This was based on the data of the PNP’s “Oplan Double Barrel Reloaded” since March 6, 2017 to 6 a.m. of Wednesday (March 15).
However, 27 drug personalities were killed during the same period.
Of those killed, majority was recorded in Region 3 (Central Luzon) wherein 16 drug suspects were slain by policemen after they allegedly fought it out with authorities.
On the other hand, two policemen were injured during the conduct of the anti-drug operations.
In the record of the PNP, a total of 679 anti-drug operations were conducted that resulted in the arrest of more than 1,000 drug personalities.
Likewise, under the “Oplan tokhang revisited”, a total of 23,239 houses were visited by policemen wherein 1,539 have surrendered such that 1,493 were drug users and 46 were pushers.
