Chinese Canadian communities to celebrate 150th anniversary of Confederation

Published

on

Vancouver, BC – Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017!  This is a historic moment with the power to bring people and communities together as we celebrate our heritage, values and our sense of pride and attachment to Canada.

Organized by Chinese Canadian communities in 8 cities across the country, including Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary and Vancouver, the Legacy 150 Celebrations Society took initiative in organizing the Canada 150 Atlantic to Pacific Celebration project, which proposes a series of regional drumming events which will occur simultaneously across Canada, to form a dynamic National Drumming Event occurring on Canada Day, July 1, 2017.  The society hopes to capture and engage the participation of 500,000 Canadians to drum together to celebrate Canada’s unity in diversity and at the same time, to set a Guinness Book of World Records milestone.

Currently, the Project has received support from over 200 community organizations across Canada, including Port of Metro Vancouver, Vancouver Foundation and Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
